A Note About the Quotes

Nearly all of the quotes in the collection on this website are taken from public domain sources, meaning they are no longer copyrighted. Most were written prior to 1924. Nonetheless, the ideas expressed in the quotes have a timeless ring to them, and the authors are still being published and quoted today.

These authors, both men and women, were way ahead of their time. For example, in Charles Haanel’s series of 24 lessons called The Master Key System, which he wrote almost 100 years ago, he said that the problem with medical science is that doctors don’t recognize the power of the mind over the body. That could easily be said today as well, considering the mainstream approach of most doctors. Fortunately, more and more medical practitioners are taking a broader view.

Charles Haanel and several of the other authors quoted on this website were part of what was called the New Thought movement, which began in the late 1800s and continued into the 1900s. Out of this movement evolved well-known organizations and churches such as Science of Mind, Unity, Church of Religious Science, and others. What they introduced in the United States and other countries back then has become widely accepted today as effective methods for spiritual growth: affirmation, meditation, and visualization. I was thrilled to discover these authors, and am happy to share them with you.
