Nature of God

Spiritual Practice: Affirm the attributes of God as a way to have deeper realization of those truths. For example: God is love. God is peace. God is joy. God is all-compassionate. God is light. God is in everyone. God is truth. God is omnipresent. God is in me. God is all-knowing. God is all-powerful. God is all-forgiving. Repeat one of these affirmations from your heart throughout the day or week as often as you can.

Spiritual Practice: Meditate regularly in order to have a personal experience of the nature of God. The most commonly experienced aspect of God in the beginning is peace. With deeper peace comes experience of other attributes. Spend as long as you can feeling the presence of God as peace or whatever aspect is manifesting to you.

Spiritual Practice: Pick an attribute of God such as peace, love, or joy and try to consciously feel that within your heart. Realize that this aspect of God is omnipresent. Feel yourself bathed in that feeling of peace, love, or joy, and realize that it also surrounds you, enveloping the room you're in or your immediate surroundings. If the feeling gives way to another attribute of God, let it change and enjoy it. Realize that this aspect of God permeates all of creation. Enjoy this feeling as long as you can. Realize that this feeling is also an attribute of your soul. You are that peace, love, and joy.

Spiritual Practice: Consider that there's no one way to conceive of God. What most appeals to you? A personal God, or an impersonal God? Do you think of God as universal intelligence? As a friend, as a father or a mother, or as the beloved? All of these at various times? Spend time creating an intimate connection with the aspect of God that most appeals to you at any given time. Read about, think about, pray to, and express love to that concept of God.
