Spiritual Practice: Keep a health diary for a week or more, and record what you eat, what exercise you get, what problems you might be having. Review your diary after a week and see what adjustments might need to be made. Are your meals balanced and sufficient? If not, plan on making some adjustments. Are you getting enough exercise to promote strength, cardiovascular health, and flexibility? If not, make some slight changes. Are there any persistent problems that you've been putting off seeing a doctor about? If so, make an appointment. Do yourself and your loved ones a favor and do what you need to do to become healthier.
Spiritual Practice: For general health, take a five or ten minute sunbath (as long as your skin can handle it) two or three times a week. During this sunbath, visualize energy entering the body through the medulla oblongata (at the top of the spine and the base of the skull) —the entry point of cosmic energy into the body—as you inhale and tense the whole body for a few seconds. Comingle the energy from the sunlight and the cosmic energy you're drawing into your body to invigorate yourself and help promote health throughout your body.
Spiritual Practice: If you find yourself worrying about your health, schedule an appointment with a doctor. Then you'll know whether you're worrying for no reason. Well, even then don't worry. When you catch yourself worrying, practice an affirmation such as, “I am filled with divine healing energy. I am well. I am strong. I am healthy." Another option is to instill joy in the affirmation so that the worry is obliterated. Combine the affirmation with a visualization. See yourself filled with healing light. Feel strength flooding your body. Imagine yourself doing physical activities you hadn't thought possible. Instill joy and have fun with it.
Spiritual Practice: If any part of your body is diseased, gently tense the muscles in that area and visualize energy flowing there from your medulla oblongata (at the top of the spine and the base of the skull)—the entry point of cosmic energy into the body. Do this for a few minutes, three or four times a day. Instill joy in the practice—smile—and the energy will flow more readily.
Spiritual Practice: Continuously focus on what you want and feel the joy of having what you want. The more you can hold onto the joy of manifesting your strongest needs and desires, the less depression, stress, and worry you'll experience and the healthier you'll become.
Spiritual Practice: Get into the habit of meditating (see Helpful Hints for instructions) twice a day for at least five or ten minutes. The peace you feel in meditation is an antidote to stress, a major negative influence on your health.
Spiritual Practice: Keep track of how many unhealthy foods you eat and cut back on them. Decrease your intake by a third or a half and let that be your new habit. After a while, cut back again. Replace the foods with healthier alternatives. Focus on the joy of being healthier and filled with vitality.
Spiritual Practice: For chronic problems, visualize the healthy state of the body part that has the problem. For example, if you have a shoulder or elbow problem that prevents you from participating in a sport, visualize yourself participating in that sport with full, pain-free movement. Feel the joy of that experience. Another example: If you suffer from asthma, visualize your bronchial tubes wide open and clear, with the air flowing freely. Practice when you aren't having an attack and can breathe freely. (Be sure to use your medication as needed.)
