Spiritual Practices

Goodness/Virtue

Spiritual Practice: As you go throughout your day, look for the good in others. If you have to, imagine the goodness that is certainly present in every soul. This reinforces the good in yourself and helps to strengthen the good in others.

Spiritual Practice: Throughout the day, look for the good in all circumstances—both the obvious good as well as the good in the unpleasant moments. For example, instead of complaining about heavy freeway traffic, something you have no control over, see what good can come from it. Maybe you can repeat an affirmation as the traffic crawls forward, or think creatively. Look for the good in everything and act on the opportunities that present themselves.

Spiritual Practice: Take stock of the good in yourself. Acknowledge yourself every evening for all the good things you did during the day, no matter how small. Allow yourself to be inspired by your own goodness, but don't force it. Let it happen of its own accord.

Spiritual Practice: Look for the good in everything, remembering that what you focus on you attract more of. Be aware of when you're not seeing the good, such as when you're judging something as bad, and immediately look for the good. Good is everywhere, but sometimes we need to consciously uncover it.

Spiritual Practice: Acknowledge other people for the good things they do. We have no idea what effect simple acts of support and kindness such as this have on others. They can turn a life around.
