Faith/Trust in God
Spiritual Practice: Faith and trust in God is born of experiences of God's love for us, and one way to experience this is in meditation. It helps create a love in which there is implicit faith in God's loving interest in our well being. At the end of meditation, spend time feeling God's love for you and all creation. Repeat: “God's love is in me and in all things. God's love fills this room and everything outside this room, throughout the universe. I have faith in God and God's love."
Spiritual Practice: Spend time each day feeling gratitude for the blessings God showers on you. Let that gratitude be a catalyst for greater love, and let trust grow out of that feeling of love.
Spiritual Practice: Be aware of and grateful for every good thing that happens during the day. Affirm: “God wants what's best for me. I have faith that it is coming into my life every day—in all good things and even the seemingly bad."
Spiritual Practice: Repeat two or three times a day or more for several minutes: “I have faith in the goodness of the universe toward all beings and toward me. I have faith that this goodness is bringing what I need into my life, exactly when I need it."
Spiritual Practice: Repeat frequently throughout the day: “God wants to help me even more than I want to be helped. I allow that help to enter my life."
Spiritual Practice: Spend ten minutes or longer writing down all the instances when you were in trouble or experiencing difficulty and how you were able to overcome it or get through it. Acknowledge your own God-given strength as well as God's help, either direct or through other people. If you feel you didn't get anything out of the experience, or think you didn't get through it okay, ask if there were any important spiritual lessons that you needed to learn. (Please note: If the event resulted in significant loss, including loss of trust, consider how that has affected your life, and if necessary, contact an organization like the Grief Recovery Institute to help you recover from the event, even if it occurred long ago.)
