Spiritual Practices
Desire for God
Spiritual Practice: Think of God during those moments when your mind is free from activities that require concentration. You attract what you think about, so thinking of God attracts God to you, bringing experiences of peace, joy, love, and wisdom. The more you experience God and these attributes or manifestations, the more you will desire God.
Spiritual Practice: Feel gratitude for all the blessings in your life. Look at your blessings and realize that God is the giver of those blessings as the creator of all things. Name them and thank God for each one. Gratitude creates love for God and desire for God. As the creator and giver of all things, God is the most desirable “being" in the universe—God is the universe. Let these thoughts strengthen your desire for an intimate relationship with God.
Spiritual Practice: Seek God first in meditation, prayer, and other spiritual activities, realizing that all things come from God, and then go about your activities with that awareness of God's presence.
Spiritual Practice: Pray for God's help in everything you do and acknowledge God's helping hand in everything you accomplish. You'll see your dependence on God for everything, and desire for God, and divine help, guidance, and protection, will increase.
