Courage

Spiritual Practice: Remember that there is more fear in not doing than in doing. Once the courageous first step is taken, the fear tends to disappear. Look at the things you're afraid to do. Pick one and do it. “Do the thing we fear, and death of fear is certain" (Emerson). Realize that each step into the dark unknown will be illuminated until, step by step, you reach your goal.

Spiritual Practice: Whenever you're worried or fearful about something, analyze it. Look at it objectively. How rational is it? An objective viewpoint will help take the edge off, then you can focus on what you want to have happen rather than on what you don't want to have happen—the outcome that is causing you to worry or be afraid. Even if there's a real danger, take the necessary logical steps to counteract it, or better yet, take steps to create a beneficial outcome, rather than focusing on the fear of the harmful outcome.

Spiritual Practice: “Perfect love casteth out fear" (I John 4:18). Concentrate on loving God and feeling the divine presence. If your consciousness is absorbed in the love of God, fear cannot enter in, and a courage based on faith in God's protection will predominate.

Spiritual Practice: Affirm: “I have the courage of the universe behind me. I act wisely and courageously." Or simply, “I am courageous." Or even more simply, “I am courage."
