Applying Spiritual Principles
Spiritual Practice: Pick a spiritual topic to work on. Decide to work on that topic for a specific period of time—one day, a week, a month, or even an entire year. Follow through on your decision, but be flexible if there's a topic that suddenly becomes urgent given the changing circumstances of your life. You can always go back to it later. Pick a specific principle under the topic to work on, if applicable.
Spiritual Practice: Pick something practical that you can do in the outer world related to the spiritual principle you're working on. First, at the end of your meditation, visualize yourself performing the action, and then plan on practicing the action in your everyday life. If applicable, decide how many times you want to apply it during the day, or practice it as the need arises.
Spiritual Practice: Pick a spiritual quote to study over a specific period of time. (See Helpful Hints to learn how to study.) Absorb the wisdom. Meditate on it. Let it become a part of your consciousness.
Spiritual Practice: Repeat an affirmation related to the spiritual principle you want to work on. This is an effective and rapid way to instill a spiritual thought in your consciousness.
Spiritual Practice: Introspect and journal about your application of spiritual principles during the day or week. Be sure to end your introspection and journaling inspired rather than discouraged. To do this, acknowledge yourself for your accomplishments, no matter how small, and keep joyously focused on your goal.
